Following its critically-acclaimed sell-out season at the Donmar Warehouse, Kevin Elyot’s classic comedy, MY NIGHT WITH REG, transfers to the Apollo Theatre for 11 weeks only.

On its premiere, Kevin Elyot’s Olivier and Evening Standard Award-winning comedy, MY NIGHT WITH REG, defined a moment in the lives of gay men and became an instant classic. For its 20th anniversary, rising star Robert Hastie directs the first major revival.

At Guy’s London flat, old friends and new gather to party through the night. This is the summer of 1985, and for Guy and his circle the world is about to change forever. Deliciously funny and bittersweet, Kevin Elyot’s comedy captures the fragility of friendship, happiness and life itself.

The entire original Donmar cast of Matt Bardock, Jonathan Broadbent, Richard Cant, Julian Ovenden, Lewis Reeves and Geoffrey Streatfeild reprise their roles for this hotly anticipated West End transfer.

REVIEW: My Night With Reg, The Loud Did Seem To Fa-a-ade

Hastie’s production was met with critical acclaim at the Donmar Warehouse last year and has since enjoyed a West End transfer to the Apollo Theatre. Set in the 1980s in the midst of the AIDS crisis, My Night With Reg follows the lives of six mismatched friends within London’s gay community desperately trying to enjoy life in the face of persistent fear and tragedy.

Review: My Night With Reg Certainly Did Not Disappoint!

Kevin Elyot the writer of My Night With Reg, tragically died in June 2014, so he did not get to see the deliciously funny, as well as beautifully touching revival and west end transfer of his play to the Apollo Theatre.

The play is entirely set in the mid 1980’s, at the height of the Thatcherite-era, when anxiety relating to the AIDS pandemic was in the forefront of peoples minds.
