The award-winning star of film, television and stage will star opposite his wife Amy Madigan in the production, which first ran on Broadway in spring 2016 to critical acclaim.
Sam Shepard’s Pulitzer Prize-winning play BURIED CHILD is set in 1979 rural America, reeling from recession and political unrest, drawing inevitable comparison between then and now are compelling in the run up to the American Presidential Election. Casting a brutal light on disenfranchised Americans, BURIED CHILD is a dark, macabre and painfully funny family drama that is as relevant now as it was during its first run almost 40 years ago.
BURIED CHILD is from The New Group creative team that recently brought the smash-hit sold-out run of the Broadway transfer of The Spoils to London, starring Jesse Eisenberg, Kunal Nayyar, Alfie Allen, and Katie Brayben.
Five time Academy Award nominee and Golden Globe winner Ed Harris boasts a wide range of film credits including A History of Violence, The Hours, The Truman Show, Apollo 13, The Adderall Diaries and much more. Harris made his directorial debut on the feature film Pollock, receiving an Academy Award nomination as Best Actor for his performance in the title role. He also directed, starred in and co-wrote the screenplay for Appaloosa.
On television, Harris will star in J.J. Abrams’ and Jonathan Nolan’s upcoming Westworld for HBO. When last on HBO, Harris won a Golden Globe Award for his portrayal of John McCain in the Jay Roach-directed Game Change. His other TV credits include the HBO miniseries Empire Falls, The Last Innocent Man, Running Mates, Paris Trout and Riders of the Purple Sage.
