An earnest young American woman, a louche English lord, and an innocent young chap join a house party of fin de siècle fools and grotesques. Nearby a woman lives, cradling a long buried secret. Wilde’s marriage of glittering wit and Ibsenite drama create a vivid new theatrical voice.
A Woman of No Importance is directed by Dominic Dromgoole and stars Olivier Award winner Eve Best, Eleanor Bron and William Gaunt.

A Woman of No Importance
Wilde’s melodrama A Woman of No Importance is receiving a London revival (the first in 20 years or so the programme notes tells me) and is the first instalment of Dominic Dromgoole’s yearlong Wilde Season. Still to come are Lady Windermere’s Fan directed by Kathy Burke and The Importance of Being Earnest that was last seen at the Vaudeville Theatre two years ago with David Suchet starring as Lady Bracknell.
