Bend It Like Beckham Tickets

Bend It Like Beckham The Musical recently extended booking at the Phoenix Theatre to 5 March 2016 when the show will then play its final performance at the end of the cast’s year-long contract.  Rehearsals began for the critically acclaimed production in March 2015 with a company led by Natalie Dew as Jess and Lauren Samuels as Jules.  The Producers are currently finalising both national and international touring offers including a tour of India visiting multiple stadia.

I really have a thing for stories that are influenced by Indian culture; movies and stage shows like Bend It Like Beckham, Bombay Dreams and Bride and Prejudice are fantastic in my eyes and the energy that they exude is incredibly infectious. I felt the same way when I went and saw Anita and Me at the Theatre Royal Stratford East on November 4th: I found the story both informative and thought provoking, the general production values beautiful and imaginative, and the cast members inviting and warming to watch.

In my last blog, we established the Interval Theatre Etiquette. But what about before and after the interval – whilst you are actually in the auditorium, watching a performance? You might not immediately think of this as the time during which theatre etiquette most needs to be established, but think back: how many times have you been sandwiched between the person who won't stop talking and the person who is eating popcorn with unnatural vigour, with people coming in late just in front of you? Of all the theatrical situations with which we Thespians are faced, it could well be that the auditorium itself is the place that is most in need of some etiquette fine-tuning. So what exactly is the etiquette for an audience member?

It seems fair to say that London’s newest musical, Bend It Like Beckham, has hit the back of the net as far as the critics are concerned. The show, which had its opening night on 24th June, has been described as ‘irresistible’, ‘joyous’, and ‘one of the sunniest, funniest musicals I have seen in many a year’.

Bend It Like Beckham at the Phoenix Theatre is a vibrant new show based on the 2001 film of the same name and is bought to the stage by the same creative team of director Gurinder Chadha and co-writer Paul Mayeda Berges. In addition, the stage production has music by Howard Goodall and lyrics by Charles Hart.

London previews begin for the new British musical Bend It Like Beckham at the Phoenix Theatre on 15 May 2015 with opening night on 24 June 2015. Due to popular demand, in January a further 200,000 tickets were released for sale at the Phoenix Theatre, taking bookings to 24 October 2015. 

Following months of speculation, it has been confirmed that the musical adaptation of Bend It Like Beckham will open at the West End's Phoenix Theatre next year!

Gurinder Chadhawill directs the world premiere of the new British musical which opens at the Phoenix Theatre (where Once is currently running) on 24th June 2015 (previews from 15th May). It is produced by Sonia Friedman who is also behind countless theatrical hits including The Book of Mormon and Legally Blonde.
